P.O. Box 7108
San Jose, CA 95120

To whom is the donation check payable?

Make your check payable to: CUHSD

In the memo line write: “for 7th period”

Is the donation tax deductible?

Once the district receives the money on August 1st, they will send letters of acknowledgement which will serve as a receipt for tax purposes.

What happens if we don’t reach our goal of $200,000 by August 1st?

If we don’t collect the entire amount of $200,000, we will return or destroy the checks. Students in the Campbell Union High School District will be limited to taking a maximum of 6 periods in the ‘04-‘05 school year.

What happens to the money if we exceed our goal?

After we give the district the $200,000 and they rescind the 6 period limitation, we will consider the option of an education foundation for the purpose of preserving and enhancing the educational programs offered in the Campbell Union High School District. Excess donations would be placed in the foundation, with the donor’s permission.

What are we doing to ensure the long term sustainability of the Campbell Union High School District?

The district is considering a parcel tax. This committee may decide to create an educational foundation for the purpose of maintaining and enhancing existing programs in the school district in the long term. All are welcome to participate in this discussion. Contact savecuhsd@yahoo.com.

Why is it important to raise the money and maintain 7th period?
How many students are affected by the elimination of 7th period?

The limitation of a six period day would impact all 7,500 students at some level. By restricting students to 6 classes, they will be forced to not take elective classes such as band, choir, art, drama, leadership, etc. so that they can take their required classes. In so doing, enrollment in the elective classes will drop and the district will determine that it isn't fiscally prudent to offer a class with low enrollment. Consequently, they will eliminate the elective classes. Another outcome will be that our schools’ and district’s rating will go down because the district doesn’t offer a competitive program compared to similar schools and districts. Down the road, this will impact our property values.

Can I get matching funds from my company?

Obtain the necessary paperwork from your company, fill it out, and send it in with your check. CUHSD will process it after August 1st .
